Building from the Ground Up: Emancipate HOPE’s First Steps

Emancipate HOPE is still in its early days, and like many young organisations, we’re in the process of building momentum. As of April 2025, we are operating with very limited resources. One of our biggest challenges has been securing funding and establishing a registered office — a crucial step for opening a bank account and streamlining decision-making. Due to the lack of an official address and the fact that many international banks do not operate in Mali, these early administrative steps have been complex and slow.
To address this, we are currently working on a grant proposal for our pilot project: a community hub that will serve multiple purposes. The space would not only house our offices, but also provide a safe and supportive environment for children — with access to internet, clean facilities, a place to study or rest, and room to hold workshops or teacher training sessions.
We know getting started is never easy, but we believe in the power of community and the dedication of our team. Our vision is to support Mali’s future through education and emancipation, creating a space where equal opportunity and growth are possible for all. In the meantime, while we work toward this central hub, our team on the ground continues to collaborate with local schools and orphanages, providing supply donations and working on infrastructure improvements — small but meaningful steps that move us closer to our goal.
